Your Incredibly Powerful Yet Simple Real Estate Seller's Guide, (Part 1)
If you’ve read my articles, newsletters or books before you know I’m a huge advocate of simplifying life, saving money to become debt free, working smart even if it takes some “hard work” in the beginning, and Maximizing your results in a Minimum amount of time (from family to fitness to financial prosperity). So when I decided to write this article I had those rules in my head, as usual.
In this multi-part series I’m going to create some simple lists of things you should do to prepare your house when getting ready to put it on the market. These pointers, other than being simple, will not cost you a great deal of money. They will be some of the smartest things you can do that most likely your competition, other home sellers, won’t be doing consistently or combining all of them. Then of course the whole idea is to maximize the closing price of your home.
So with that in mind let’s get started with Part 1:
Your first impression is also known as curb appeal. Here’s a great list of things to consider maximizing curb appeal:
- Mow the Lawn, if you have one
- Trim any shrubbery
- Clean the windows
- Consider planting a few flowers or plants. This can do a lot for a front yard
- If your lawn isn’t at its peek, fertilize it along with the plants 2-3 weeks in advance of putting the home on the market
- If you have a any stains in the driveway, like oil spots, clean them as thoroughly as you can.
- Clean the garage doors and make sure they open smoothly.
